First, we visited a great cathedral there. At one point, it was the largest in Europe.
Then, we walked along the main street, and through a few of the squares there. They had wonderful shopping, musicians and lots of great places to eat. The kids and I had some super wonderful ice cream.
Finally, we went to The Speyer Technical Museum. It was a great place to take the kids. They had antique cars, trains, tractors, motorcycles, boats... basically anything that moves... We also had the opportunity to see a Russian space shuttle and go into a German U boat. Wow! That was an experience... It was like walking through an engine, literally there was nothing between them and the engine! I could not imagine living in there!
The kids had a great time, Owen and August were just in Heaven seeing so many trains. Katie loved the airplanes. We got to go inside a Lufthansa super jumbo! It was raised up about four stories, and we got to walk out onto the wings and could see the whole city. And for the brave, there was a slide that you could take all the way down. (Katie was not interested in that at all!)
What a super fun day!
